At Toddler Town, we believe that children learn best when they feel happy, safe, curious, and free to explore. Play is at the heart of everything we do, giving children the opportunity to discover important skills and build confidence in a fun, engaging, and nurturing environment.
How Do Children Learn Through Play?
Play is much more than just having fun! Through everyday experiences, children develop skills that support them throughout their early years, and beyond. Whether they are building towers, exploring sensory materials, sharing stories, getting creative with paint, or investigating the natural world, every experience offers valuable opportunities for learning.
Our practitioners carefully plan engaging activities that encourage children to ask questions, solve problems, use their imagination, and develop independence. We also recognise that some of the most meaningful learning happens spontaneously, so we follow children's interests, and give them the time and space to explore at their own pace.
The EYFS at Toddler Town
Our approach to learning is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which supports children's learning and development from birth to five years old. The EYFS covers seven areas of learning:
*Communication and Language - developing listening, understanding, and speaking skills.
*Personal, Social, and Emotional Development - building confidence, friendships, and emotional wellbeing.
*Physical Development - strengthening coordination, movement, and independence.
*Literacy - discovering books, stories, sounds, and early writing
*Mathematics - exploring numbers, patterns, shapes, and problem-solving.
*Understanding the World - learning about people, communities, and the natural enviornment.
*Expressive Arts and Design - exploring creativity through music, movement, art, and imaginative play.
These areas are woven into our everyday experiences, helping children develop a broad range of skills in ways that feel natural, enjoyable, and meaningful to them.

From indoor exploration, to outdoor adventures, we aim to create opportunities for children to experiment, make discoveries, and develop a genuine love of learning.
Our dedicated practitioners play an important role by observing children's interests, offering encouragement, and introducing new experiences that build on what children already know. Every child is unique, and we celebrate their individual achievements, recognising that development happens at different rates.
